Soooo….Just how much money did you make off of the Red Sox, Blue Jays game on 5-12-10. That was the worst job of umpiring home plate that I have ever seen and I have been watching for almost 40 years. To ring up batters when the pitch is somewhere around 12-18 inches off of the plate can only spell one of two things. You either A). Hate the Red Sox or B). Had a bet on the game.
When the catcher for the Jays (Molina) went out to talk to his pitcher, after there was a full count on Ortiz in the bottom of the 9th, you could almost read his lips telling the pitcher to throw the ball 1-1/2 feet outside and you were going to call it a strike no matter what! So I ask you again is the answer “A” or “B”?
You should be repromanded, asked to make a formal appoligy to the Red Sox and never asked back to umpire again. Like I said worst job I have ever witnessed!
A review of dale scott’s performance calling balls and strike’s on 5-12-2010 boston toronto game should be done he was calling strikes on the red sox that were clear balls way off the plate and he was doing that all night long like the guy said above he either he hates the redsox or had money on the game i thought the worst umpire in the league was greg gibson but after this performance by dale scott he wins…something should be done about that….If thats the strike zone fine but it should go for both teams. MLB DO SOMTHING
HOW COME MLB DOES NOT HAVE A SYSTEM IN PLACE TO GRADE THE UMPIRES ON THE CALLS ON THE BASES? THEY ARE PAID TO MAKE THE CORRECT CALL, ON THE CLOSE CALLS. FOR EXAMPLE, EVERY TIME THEY’RE ARE 10 CLOSE CALLS AND LET’S SAY THEY DON’T GET AT LEAST 9 OUT OF TEN CORRECT, THEN THEY SHOULD BE SENT TO THE MINORS UNTIL THEY IMPROVE TO THIS RATIO AND PAY IS REDUCED FOR POOR PERFORMANCE. I WATCH THE GAMES ON T.V. AND MANY CALLS ARE MISSED BY THESE UMPIRES AT ALL FOUR BASES. THE CAMERA DOES NOT LIE. IF MLB HAD THIS IN PLACE, I THINK WE WOULD HAVE BETTER OFFICIATED GAMES BECAUSE NOW THE UMPIRES WOULD KNOW THAT TOO MANY MISSED CALLS WOULD MEAN A TRIP TO THE MINORS, MONEY OUT OF THEIR WALLET AND A “TRIPLE A” UMPIRE WOULD GET A CHANCE AT A “JOB IN THE SHOW” AND IF HE DOES WELL, HE CAN STAY AND THE UMPIRE WHO WAS SENT DOWN WON’T GET HIS ML UMPIRE JOB BACK AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL. I KNOW MLB DOES NOT HAVE THIS SYSTEM BRCAUSE I SEE THE SAME UMPIRES DAY AFTER DAY, AFTER TOO MANY MISSED CALLS, STILL UMPIRING IN THE “SHOW”. I FEEL NOTHING WILL IMPROVE UNTIL A SYSTEM LIKE THIS IS IN PLACE. THE MINOR LEAGUE UMPIRES DESERVE A SHOT WHEN THE UMPIRES ABOVE THEM ARE NOT PERFORMING UP TO STANDARD.
