HOW COME MLB DOES NOT HAVE A SYSTEM IN PLACE TO GRADE THE UMPIRES ON THE CALLS ON THE BASES? THEY ARE PAID TO MAKE THE CORRECT CALL, ON THE CLOSE CALLS. FOR EXAMPLE, EVERY TIME THEY’RE ARE 10 CLOSE CALLS AND LET’S SAY THEY DON’T GET AT LEAST 9 OUT OF TEN CORRECT, THEN THEY SHOULD BE SENT TO THE MINORS UNTIL THEY IMPROVE TO THIS RATIO AND PAY IS REDUCED FOR POOR PERFORMANCE. I WATCH THE GAMES ON T.V. AND MANY CALLS ARE MISSED BY THESE UMPIRES AT ALL FOUR BASES. THE CAMERA DOES NOT LIE. IF MLB HAD THIS IN PLACE, I THINK WE WOULD HAVE BETTER OFFICIATED GAMES BECAUSE NOW THE UMPIRES WOULD KNOW THAT TOO MANY MISSED CALLS WOULD MEAN A TRIP TO THE MINORS, MONEY OUT OF THEIR WALLET AND A “TRIPLE A” UMPIRE WOULD GET A CHANCE AT A “JOB IN THE SHOW” AND IF HE DOES WELL, HE CAN STAY AND THE UMPIRE WHO WAS SENT DOWN WON’T GET HIS ML UMPIRE JOB BACK AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL. I KNOW MLB DOES NOT HAVE THIS SYSTEM BRCAUSE I SEE THE SAME UMPIRES DAY AFTER DAY, AFTER TOO MANY MISSED CALLS, STILL UMPIRING IN THE “SHOW”. I FEEL NOTHING WILL IMPROVE UNTIL A SYSTEM LIKE THIS IS IN PLACE. THE MINOR LEAGUE UMPIRES DESERVE A SHOT WHEN THE UMPIRES ABOVE THEM ARE NOT PERFORMING UP TO STANDARD.

You need to go to “remedial” umpire school AFTER you have your eyes examined.
How do you have the confidence or respect of players [other than the Braves] or your fellow umps to go out and work another game??

Just saw the ending to the Pirates game and how Meals completely blew the game. Earlier on he ejected McLouth for questioning a call. I believe the Union should seriously look into firing this guy as he’s an arogant umpire who wants everyone to THINK he runs the game when he RUINS it by making calls such as tonight’s
